     Stop temporarily, start again or do something else

Power--I am only OK when I am the boss


     How does teacher feel?
     Angry

     What does the teacher normally do?
     Confronts or Gives in

     What does the student do as a result?
     Becomes confrontational or passive/agressive

Revenge--I am only OK when I am getting even


     How does teacher feel?
     Angry and Hurt

     What does the teacher normally do?
     Retaliate

     What does the student do as a result?
     Retaliate

Avoidance-of-Failure--I am only OK when I am showing you I am helpless


     How does teacher feel?
     Helpless

     What does the teacher normally do?
     Gives up

     What does the student do as a result?
     Gives up/continues to do nothing
